Standardisation must be practical!
Timber Construction Europe is committed to clear, transparent and applicable legislation in terms of the users in the companies and planning offices.
A direct influence in terms of artisanal timber construction is pursued in the following European standardisation bodies by the experts appointed by Timber Construction Europe:
- CEN TC 124 Timber construction
- CEN TC 127 Fire protection
- CEN TC 126 Noise protection
- CEN TC 175 Stair construction (WG 5)
- CEN TC 250 EUROCODE 5 (SC 5)
- CEN TC 350 Sustainability
- CEN TC 351 Hazardous substances (indoor climate)
The technology committee takes care of the coordination of national standards activities. The aim is to encourage more practical standards by coordinating and pooling national interests at the European level.
"Eurocode 5 - Ease of use" project
With experience to date in the application of the current Eurocodes, the next Eurocode generation (2020) is being devised in a practical and user-friendly manner for engineers and woodworkers.
For this purpose Timber Construction Europe is involved in TC 250 SC 5 "Euro Code 5" in supporting working groups and in practice-relevant research.
